The Cemetery on Shirokaya Rechka is one of the most impressive cemeteries of the city.
It occupies a territory of 46 hectares and is the 4th biggest cemetery in Ekaterinburg.
The first burials were made here in the 1940’s. Now the cemetery is closed for regular burials. In the center of the cemetery is the memorial and tombs of veterans of the World War II, prominent Ural bolsheviks, artists and scholars.
At one part of the cemetery are tombs of those people — allegedly mafia members among them — who died during the 1990’s, the interim period in the Russian history. Some tombstones are really impressive.
There is a church at the cemetery.
Directions: between ul. Zoologicheskaya (ул. Зоологическая) and ul. Repina (ул. Репина), south-west part of the city, not far from the MEGA (Ikea) shopping mall.
